Rees Mogg, presided, supported by Mr. C. P. Ashman, Avon Group representative of Somerset County Committee, the Rev. I.
Westhead, M.C., and' Mr. E. Flower (vice presidents), also Mr. A. H.
Bennett (chairman); Mr. K. Gill (secre. tary), Mr. W.
Knott (treasurer), Capt. I. C. Hoyal (benevolent secretary), and Mr. W.
Horler (asst. secretary). The president gave the loyal toast, and also the toast of the British Legion. He gave a resume of the branch's activities from its inception, and regretted his ability to take a more active part in the branch, owing to his commitments on County Council business, but assured the members of his con- linued interest. DARTS CUP PRESENTED Mr.
C. P. Ashman, responding. gave an interesting account of the work of the county committee, incorporating its activities during the past year, and complimenting the branch on winning the darts competition. Capt.
Hoyal, In proposing the toast of the branch, outlined the good work that had been done, especially on the benevolent side. The chairman suitably replied. At the request of the president, the chairman presented the Somerset Legion Darts Cup to the darts team captain, Mr. R. Bailey, and then personally presented his gifts of a Legion tie to each member of the team.
SEPARATE BRANCHES The Rev. I. Westhead proposed the toast of the visitors, to which Roberts, of Clutton, suitably replied. toast of the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs.
D. Chard, was proposed by Mr. H. Elford, and replied by Mr. D.
Chard, who promised his further support in the interests of the branch. It was resolved that the Clutton and Temple Cloud branch be reorganised into two separate branches, in the interests of members of both villages. A meeting setting up the new constitution is to be held, and it is hoped that full support will be given to this project. Mr. Clements presided at the piano, Mr.
L. Weeks delighted all with solos, while members of the branch also contributed in various ways to a happy evening. For Second Year No Drunkenness Cases For the second year in succession there were no cases of drunkenness dealt with in the licensing district of Temple Cloud in 1950. This was stated in the annual report given by Police Supt. A.
White. at the general annual licensing session held at Temple Cloud on Wednesday. All the licences were granted. and the chairman, Lord Strachie. congratulated the licensees and the public on a very satisfactory report.
He added, amid laughter, "As I have said before, the high price and the Jow alcoholic tents are the contributory factors." The report for last year stated there were 31 ale houses, beer houses. six off beer houses, three grocers, and other licences. and one registered club, which showed no change from the previous year. The population of the district. according to the census of 1931, is 15.173.

Anthony Jackson, a popular member of Frome Cricket Club, was married at Saul, Gloucester. shire, to Miss Gladys Maunton, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Maunton.
The bridegroom is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Jackson, of Great Barn Farm, Witham Friary, near Frome. The bride was attired in a Tudor style ivory satin marocain dress, with headdress of orange blossom and veil. and carried a bouquet of red carnations.
She was attended by Miss Marjorie Dredge, of Cheltenham, a friend. and Mr. Mervyn Harvey, of Wincanton. was best man. A hundred guests attended the reception in Saul schoolroom, and the honeymoon is being spent motoring.
LIBRARIAN RETIRING Frome Presentation to Mr. H. J. Pudden At a meeting of the Frome and District Library Committee, Mr. H.
M. Scott (chairman) presented Mr. Hedley J. Pudden, the retiring Frome Librarian, with a cheque for just over £31 in appreciation of his services to the town. The money was subscribed by well-wishers in the town and district, and Mr.
Scott paid tribute to the long and faithful service he had rendered to Frome Library, saying that he had shown personal interest in the borrowers. He also paid tribute the part which Mr. Pudden had paid in everything educational. Mr. F.
